Drilling · Well Engineering

Till Huesecken is an international drilling and well-engineering executive with more than 30 years of experience delivering complex well projects worldwide.

At Catoxy Energy

Till serves as Chief Technical Officer – Drilling & Engineering and is a member of Catoxy Energy’s management team. He leads the company’s drilling, well-engineering and associated technical activities across its geothermal development and acquisition portfolio. His responsibilities extend across the complete well lifecycle, from initial technical evaluation, concept selection and well design through drilling, completion, testing, intervention, workover and eventual abandonment. He provides technical direction and assurance for project planning and execution, contractor selection, operational readiness, well integrity, cost and schedule control and the management of drilling-related risks.

Till also supports Catoxy’s evaluation of existing wells, drilling organisations and potential acquisition targets. This includes assessing the technical and commercial viability of reusing, re-entering or deepening existing oil and gas wells for geothermal purposes. Working closely with Catoxy’s subsurface, project, commercial and digital teams, Till helps ensure that identified geothermal resources can be converted into safe, technically robust and commercially viable energy projects. He also supports the development of Catoxy’s relationships with drilling contractors, engineering companies and specialist service providers, particularly across Germany, the Netherlands and the wider European geothermal market.

Career

Till brings more than three decades of international drilling, well-engineering, project and operations experience. His career has focused on the establishment, management and execution of large-scale upstream drilling projects involving multinational teams, with more than 25 years spent working in the Middle East. He has worked across operator and consultancy environments and has managed multidisciplinary technical and operational teams responsible for complex exploration, development, workover and well-intervention programmes.

Throughout his career, Till has combined detailed drilling and engineering knowledge with senior project-management and operational leadership experience. His work has included drilling-programme development, technical assurance, contractor and service-company management, operational troubleshooting, performance improvement, cost control, risk management and the transfer of technical knowledge between engineering and field teams. He has developed an extensive international network across the drilling industry, including established relationships with drilling contractors, engineering organisations, specialist service companies and experienced technical professionals.

Earlier roles

Before joining Catoxy Energy, Till held senior drilling, engineering, project and operational management positions supporting international energy companies and drilling organisations. Most recently, he provided drilling and workover expertise to Bunduq Oil Company. His professional profile reflects extensive experience in upstream project and operations management and certification as a Project Management Professional. His earlier responsibilities included the planning and execution of technically demanding drilling campaigns, the leadership of multinational teams and the coordination of operators, rig contractors, engineering teams and third-party service providers.

Till has also contributed to the development and application of innovative drilling approaches. He co-authored a technical paper on the use of a hydraulic workover unit to drill shallow offshore gas wells, demonstrating how alternative well-construction methods can reduce costs while achieving the required well objectives. His broad operational background, combined with his understanding of the European geothermal drilling and service-company landscape, provides Catoxy with senior technical leadership across both new-build geothermal projects and the repurposing of existing wells and infrastructure.

Education

Till graduated from the Technical University of Berlin in 1994. His studies included a petroleum-engineering scholarship at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, United States. He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute.
